Proficiency

Some specific actions or tests will require Proficiency; this means that just having that skill is not enough to attempt those tests and you need some specialized training to do so properly.

A character who is not proficient at something has a major disadvantage when attempting it. However, in the case of Armor Proficiency, if a character is not proficient at using the armor they are wearing, they instead gained increased Encumbrance.


Weapon Proficiencies

Tech Weapons

  • Attacking with a Tech Weapon.

  • Tech Weapons have a variety of elemental and special effects that can ignore armor and hamper targets.

Martial Weapons

  • Attacking with a Martial Weapon.

  • Martial weapons tend to specialize in offering higher and more reliable damage over additional effects.

Tactical Weapons

  • Attacking with a Tactical Weapon.

  • Tactical weapons specialize in control and precision and tend to make extensive use of combat maneuvers and conditions.

Unarmed Fighting

  • Attacking someone using only your body or weapons with the Unarmed quality

  • Unarmed fighting tents to specialize in maneuvers and attacking with a variety of skills.

Firearms

  • Attacking with a Firearm.

  • Firearms have a variety of firing modes and specialize in dealing high damage over additional effects.


Armor Proficiencies

Medium Armor

  • Wearing Medium Armor

  • Medium Armor offers a balance between protection, freedom of movement and evasiveness.

Heavy Armor

  • Wearing Heavy or Medium Armor

  • Heavy Armor makes one easy to hit but offers high degrees of protection.

Powered Armor

  • Wearing Powered Armor

  • Powered Armor is a mechanical suit that has its own game attributes, worn over one’s body. It is powerful but cumbersome and has a high upkeep.

Hacking

  • Using Combat ECM.

Healing

  • Restoring Hit Points.

  • Treating Physical Conditions, Injuries and Wounds.

  • Using Medkits.

  • Performing Surgery.

Engineering

  • Repairing complex machines (Mechs, Spaceships, Drones, Firearms, Tech Weapons, Implants, etc)

  • Building complex machines. Using Engineering Kits and Toolboxes.

Smithing

  • Repairing Armor, Shields, Simple, Martial and Tactical weapons.

  • Crafting Armor, Shields, Simple, Martial and Tactical weapons.

Tinkering

  • Repairing small objects, items and accessories.
